Buying a vehicle remotely, sight unseen: how we inspect, document and deliver it
Buying a car in another country without travelling there takes trust. Here, step by step, is what MC Export checks, what you receive and how the vehicle reaches you.
The real question: trusting a vehicle you have not seen
Buying a car several hundred kilometres away, without a test drive, means accepting that you will not see everything with your own eyes. The only serious answer is a clear process: who checks what, with what evidence, and what happens if something is not right.
Here is ours.
Before the purchase: we inspect the vehicle
We do not buy a vehicle for you without inspecting it first. The inspection covers:
- mechanical condition and bodywork
- service history, and whether the mileage adds up
- the equipment actually fitted, compared with the listing
- whether the paperwork is in order (registration certificate, certificate of conformity)
You receive photos and, where needed, videos of the points that matter to you. Ask for whatever you want to see: a detail of the bodywork, the condition of the tyres, the range display of an electric vehicle.
A price checked against the market
Before we offer you a vehicle, we compare its price with real listings using our ADA tool, which scans 12 listing sites in 10 European countries every day. So you know whether the price is fair, and how far below the market in your country it sits.
The documents you receive
- the invoice, stating the vehicle's VAT scheme
- the original registration certificate
- the European certificate of conformity (COC)
- the export and transport documents
These are the documents you will be asked for when you register the vehicle in your country.
Transport to your door
The vehicle travels on a car transporter to the agreed address. For Denmark and the Netherlands, it usually takes 1 to 2.5 weeks from agreement to delivery.
What we do not do
We do not present as certain anything we have not been able to verify. If a service history is incomplete or a point still needs to be confirmed, we tell you before the purchase, not after.
Your buyer's checklist
Whether you buy from us or elsewhere, these questions apply to any remote purchase:
- Does the chassis number (VIN) match the documents?
- Is the service history available, and is it consistent with the mileage?
- Is the advertised price excluding or including VAT, and under which VAT scheme?
- Is the certificate of conformity (COC) supplied?
- How much will registration and taxes cost in your country?
- Who arranges the transport, and who insures it?
For tax matters between countries, see our guide to VAT between EU businesses.
Frequently asked questions
Can I come and see the vehicle?
That is possible depending on where the vehicle is: just tell us at the outset. Most of our customers buy remotely, on the strength of the inspection, the photos and the documents.
Do you deliver to private buyers?
Yes, private buyers as well as businesses, throughout the European Union.
How can I see which vehicles are available?
Our good deals are updated continuously, with the price and our market survey. For a specific model, leave the search to us.
